MAHUA ROY CHOWDHURY

Mahua Roy Chowdhury is a qualified advocate and a registered Patent Attorney. Mahua holds a LLM in Intellectual Property Law from Franklin Pierce (now Pierce Law), USA. She has practiced at the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India and has represented the Faculty of Law, Delhi University before the High Court and District Courts. Mahua has extensive experience in criminal and civil litigation.

Mahua has conducted lectures on intellectual property and other matters at the GGSIP University and its associate institutes at Delhi. She also addresses senior executives of our clients in in-house IP orientation workshops.

Mahua was earlier the head of the IP practice group of a well known corporate law firm in Mumbai. As Head of IP practice group of a well known firm, Mahua had initiated and led successfully HP Anti-Counterfeiting actions during 2002-2005. She has coordinated around 400 criminal IP enforcement actions (raids) for HP throughout India. She was also responsible for procuring injunctions against prime counterfeiters from Delhi High Court.

Her other leading assignments include:

• Strategizing various actions for IT companies to combat counterfeiting in India and execution of the same. Day-to-day co-ordination with investigation agencies, police and local counsel in 40 cities across India. Successfully initiated criminal and civil actions against counterfeiters.
• Initiated formation of a core group of IT companies like HP, Microsoft, Epson, Canon, Logitech etc. to combat counterfeiting and piracy under the aegis of MAIT (Manufacturers’ Association of IT companies). Successfully organized workshops under the aegis of MAIT for Police, Customs officials and Public Prosecutors in several cities across India.
• Liaised with Police and Customs officials for promoting IP enforcement and amending existing Customs laws. Preparing and regularly updating an online IP informative site called ‘Border Watch’ for Baker & McKenzie, UK.

Aaron Solomon is a qualified Indian solicitor and advocate. Aaron has practiced law based in Mumbai since 1994 gaining extensive experience in international commercial and corporate matters. He is a fourth-generation solicitor, and is a gold medallist at the Solicitors exam of the Bombay Incorporated Law Society in 1996. Aaron graduated from St. Xavier's, Mumbai with a ‘Political Science’ specialization in 1992, and thereafter studied law at Government Law College, Mumbai.

Aaron has expertise in mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures & collaborations, corporate & commercial laws, banking & finance, capital markets & securities laws, technology, media and telecommunications, outsourcing, intellectual property, international trade and customs laws and other specialist practice areas. GERMAINE PEREIRA

Germaine Pereira holds a Masters Degree in Science and has specialized in Biotechnology. She is a registered Attorney. Ms. Pereira is actively involved with the Intellectual Property practice at Solomon & Roy, a division of Solomon & Co. and has assisted in in-house workshops related to Intellectual Property for Sr Executives of our IT clients.

Prior to working with Solomon & Co., Germaine was an Independant Consultant with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay in advisory capacity, advising on issues related to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and other such industries that require challenging investments in innovation and discovery. She has also advised clients in matters related to acquisition, sale and licensing of such rights; thereby nurturing their R&D center “The Industrial Research and Consultancy Centre” (IRCC) for a period of 4 years.

AMIT JATKAR

Amit Jatkar is an Associate in the IP & Technology Group of Solomon & Roy. He is a qualified Automobile Engineer and a registered Attorney. He has completed Post Graduate Diploma in Patent Law and Practice from Institute of Intellectual Property Studies (IIPS), Mumbai. His practice focuses primarily on drafting and prosecution of patents.

Mr. Jatkar’s practice also includes industrial design and trademark prosecution. He advises senior Professors from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai on IPR issues related to innovative designs and technologies.

Prior to joining Solomon & Roy Intellectual Property Services Mr. Jatkar worked as Associate Attorney with a reputed legal process outsourcing firm in Mumbai.

Mr. Jatkar also holds a Diploma in German Language from University of Mumbai.

AUDIP GHOSH

He is an Engineer in Electronics & Telecommunication and has hands-on industry experience in Remote Controlling and Instrumentation & Control before he choose to join Law and especially IP. He is also qualified in advance Java. In Solomon & Roy he had a diverse experience in all nuances of IP before narrowing down to Patents and portfolio management.His experience includes:

• Conducting Prior Art Search, FTO search, White Space Analysis in the domain of Electronics, Software, Optical, Green Technology and Remote Monitoring System.
• Audip is responsible for filing and managing Trademark portfolio of European and Asian entities and law firms.
• Audip expertise covers international information technology transactions and disputes, including software and technology contracts.
• Audip assisted in designing and implementation of IP management web based software "ipLawgin".
• He also has extensive knowledge and experience of Customs laws and assists in advising our International clients.
• Audip has keen interest in transactional and regulatory work and has assisted in several assignments.

SRIKANTH C

Srikanth holds a bachelor's degree in law from IIT Kharagpur, India with specialization in IP.

He holds a bachelor's degree (B.E.) in Electronics and Communication.

He has worked as a litigator for one and half years and appeared on behalf of various clients in Madras High Court – Madras and Madurai Bench, Central Administrative Court (C.A.T) – Madras Bench, Sessions Court, City Civil Court, Consumer Court before joining our Firm.

Srikanth was also privileged to intern with Hon’ble Justice P. Sathasivam of Supreme Court of India.

He is well-versed with Indian patent and trade mark law and registration procedure. He is also well-versed with US as well as European practice.

In SOLOMON & ROY, he drafts patents related to Electronics, Software and Electrical. He also handles patent prosecution and responding to ISR.

Srikanth is fluent in Indian languages including Tamil and Telugu.

FALGUNI PAREKH

Falguni Parekh holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce She is a registered Attorney.

Ms. Falguni is actively involved with the Intellectual Property practice at Solomon & Roy Intellectual Property Services, especially in matters related to Copyright.

Falguni is also a part of the Corporate wing of Solomon & Co. and has worked on property matters specifically transactions related to development of integrated townships, title searches for properties, transfer and sale of property and other related matters.

Prior to joining our firm Falguni was a consultant to the Times Foundation (a CSR wing of Times Of India) in their Legal initiative called the Forum For Public Interest and worked on several Public Interest Litigation matters like Sand Mining, Anti-Smoking, Regulating of Trusts in Mumbai and many more

She is currently pursuing LL.M from Queen Mary, University of London.

AMIT PAWAR

Amit holds Master Degree in Law with specialized in Constitution and Criminal law from Symbiosis Law School. His dissertation thesis was titled: “Intellectual Property Rights and Traditional Knowledge.” for the award of LL.M degree. He was awarded Gold Medal for securing the first position in his Masters’ Degree in Law. He is a registered Attorney with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.

Amit's practice mainly focuses on litigation and transactional assignment involving copyright and trademark infringement. Amit's experience in intellectual property laws includes:

• Drafting plaints, written statements, petitions for injunction and various other applications and replies to such petitions and applications for matters involving copyright and trade mark infringement; researching on legal issues concerning intellectual property rights, researching on decisions by the Supreme Court, the High Courts and the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB);
• Preparing, filing and prosecution of applications for registration of trade/service marks;
• Drafting cease-and-desist notices and replies to notices;

RANU SHRIVASTAVA

Ranu Shrivastava is a registered attorney and holds a Master Degree in (Chemistry). She has completed Post Graduate Diploma in Patent Law from NALSAR, University of Hyderabad.

Prior to joining SOLOMON & ROY she worked as an Associate Attorney with a reputed Law firm in Mumbai, where she was primarily involved in Opposition of Trademarks, filing of Counter Statements, Assignment and transmission of trademarks, Renewal of Registration and Restoration. She has also handled Domain Name Dispute matters.

In SOLOMON & ROY she conducts prior-art search, drafting patents, filing and prosecution of Patents especially related to chemical. She has been also involved in managing Trademark Portfolio in IP lawginSM, a web-based IP Management database indigenously developed by SOLOMON & ROY.

Ranu has also been involved in drafting complex Software License Agreement and drafting response to Trademark objections and oppositions.
